Chantal Simonpietri

Our inspiring leader.

A diverse life, skill and educational background allow her to bring a plethora of creativity and perspective to each project. Her traditional educational background includes a Juris Doctorate in environmental law with a specialization in water law (Vermont Law School, 2003), a bachelor’s degree in geology (Western State College of Colorado, 1993) and assorted graduate coursework in Water Resources Management and Development (CU-Boulder) and Collaborative Governance (Portland State University). Ongoing learning continues with habitat restoration field schools, mediation and conflict resolution coursework, climate resilience lectures and anything that inspires her to keep learning.

The past ten years featured a deep dive into local, regional, and statewide environmental regulatory compliance. Previous employers include the United States Geological Survey, National Center for Atmospheric Research, Vermont Natural Resources Council, Center for Understanding in Conflict, Real Goods Solar Living Institute, and Michael Franti and Spearhead.
Chantal balances her super-heady work life with an array of activities including pickleball, ecstatic dance, mountain biking, river running, gardening, collage, and regular, silent, timeless nature connection. Raised in California, Connecticut, and Argentina, she lives at her wild, urban, micro-homestead in Ukiah with her teenage son.
